Mikrotek Machines Limited, the maker of all kinds of dies for a wide range of industries, including machine tools, has now shifted its operations to a modern plant that will take care of not only the increase in demand but also the technological changes taking place in the industry. Huned Contractor visits the plant and interviews its senior management to know more
It all started with a small shed on an open plot a few kilometres outside Bengaluru, close to the famous Nandi Hills and the Kempegowda International Airport. That is where B Kamal Babu, Managing Director, Mikrotek Machines Limited, started his entrepreneurial journey about 25 years ago. This is hard to believe considering that in place of the shed are two imposing manufacturing layouts, one recently added to house the sprawling die production activities that the company engages in. In fact, this perhaps makes it Asia’s largest die manufacturing unit and one of the largest in the world. Spread across four broad floors, Mikrotek Machines has over here installation of state-of-the-art machines to produce quality precision dies. “We are now one of the leading global suppliers of diamond dies and our reputation is top-notch,” says Kamal Babu.
As an ISO 9001:2015 certified company, Mikrotek Machines is different from other die making companies in the sense that it undertakes projects to improve the productivity of the manufacturing companies, especially those engaged in wiredrawing operations. “We are a total solutions’ provider apart from the fact that our dies are of the highest precision level. Our technical team will visit the customer’s plant, study the manufacturing conditions and historical data, conduct trials to improve the overall efficiency of the plant and assure guaranteed results,” says Kamal Babu. In this interaction, Kamal Babu and his wife Anitha Kamal, who manages the administration and financial aspects of the company, share their vision about becoming a global leader in this sector.
